These mummy jalapeno poppers are jalapeno halves stuffed with a creamy, cheesy filling, wrapped in crescent roll dough strips to look like mummies, and baked until golden. Perfect for Halloween parties, they come together in under 30 minutes and are always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 fresh jalapenos (medium)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can (8-count) crescent roll dough
  • 2432 small candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Wearing disposable gloves, cut each jalapeno in half lengthwise. Use a small spoon to scrape out seeds and white membranes. You should have 12-16 halves.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Mix until smooth.
  4. Using a small spoon, fill each jalapeno half with the cheese mixture, level with the cut edge.
  5. Open the can of crescent rolls. Unroll and separate into 8 triangles. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3-4 thin strips (about 1/2 inch wide).
  6. Wrap each filled jalapeno half with a strip of dough, starting at one end and overlapping slightly. Leave a small gap near the top for the eyes. Press the end to seal.
  7. Press two candy eyes into the exposed gap on each mummy.
  8. Place wrapped poppers on the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 1 inch apart. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until dough is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for 3-5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Wear gloves when handling jalapenos to avoid burning your skin. For milder poppers, scrape out all seeds and membranes. For extra flavor, add 4 slices of cooked, crumbled bacon to the filling. To make ahead, assemble up to 4 hours in advance, refrigerate, and add eyes just before baking. Add 2-3 minutes to bake time if starting from cold.
