A creamy, spicy, and cheesy buffalo chicken dip with a fun spiderweb pattern on top. Perfect for game day, potlucks, or a cozy night in, this easy recipe comes together in under 30 minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken (rotisserie chicken works great)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce (Frank’s RedHot recommended)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided (sharp cheddar recommended)
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 23 tablespoons sour cream (for spiderweb)
  • Optional: chopped green onions or chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Shred the chicken using two forks; set aside.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup sour cream, buffalo sauce, ranch dressing mix, and milk. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  4. Stir in 3/4 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese (reserve the rest for the top), all of the mozzarella, and the shredded chicken. Mix until evenly distributed.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 8×8 or 9×9 baking dish or cast-iron skillet. Spread evenly and smooth the top.
  6. Sprinkle the reserved 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese over the top.
  7. To create the spiderweb: Place 2-3 tablespoons of sour cream in a piping bag or zip-top bag with a tiny corner snipped off. Pipe a small circle of sour cream in the center, then pipe larger concentric circles about an inch apart. Use a toothpick or skewer to drag from the center circle outward to the edge, creating spokes. Then drag from the edge back toward the center between the spokes to create the web pattern.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until hot and bubbly and the cheese is melted and lightly golden.
  9. Let the dip cool for about 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped green onions or chives if desired.
  10. Serve with sturdy tortilla chips, celery sticks, or other dippers.

Notes

Let cream cheese come to room temperature for smooth mixing. Use Frank’s RedHot buffalo sauce for best flavor. Don’t overbake; the dip continues to cook after removal. For a make-ahead option, assemble up to 24 hours in advance and add 5-10 minutes to baking time. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 4 days; reheat in oven at 350°F for 10 minutes or microwave in 30-second intervals. Freezing is not recommended.
