This easy white chocolate candy corn popcorn mix is the perfect fall treat. With just three main ingredients and 15 minutes, you can create a crunchy, sweet, and salty snack that’s ideal for Halloween parties, movie nights, or any cozy autumn gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels or one standard bag of plain microwave popcorn)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional, but recommended)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips or melting wafers (about 2 cups)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups candy corn (about one standard 12-ounce bag)
  • 1/2 cup salted peanuts or roasted almonds (optional)
  • 1/4 cup fall-colored sprinkles or festive nonpareils (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pop your popcorn: If using kernels, pop them using an air popper, stovetop, or microwave. You want about 12 cups of popped popcorn. Remove any unpopped kernels. Spread the popcorn in a single layer on a lined baking sheet and let it cool completely.
  2. Melt the white chocolate: Place white chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until smooth and glossy. Stop heating when most chips are melted, then stir until residual heat melts the rest.
  3. Coat the popcorn: Pour melted white chocolate over cooled popcorn in a large bowl. Gently fold with a spatula, lifting from the bottom, until every kernel is lightly coated. If chocolate starts to set, microwave for 10 seconds to loosen.
  4. Add the mix-ins: Sprinkle in candy corn and nuts (if using). Fold gently to distribute evenly. Add half, fold, then add the rest for even distribution.
  5. Spread and set: Transfer mixture to the lined baking sheet and spread in an even layer. For clusters, leave some pieces touching; for individual pieces, spread apart. Sprinkle with optional salt and festive sprinkles while chocolate is still wet.
  6. Let it set completely: Leave at room temperature for 30-45 minutes, or refrigerate for 15-20 minutes, until white chocolate is firm and no longer sticky.
  7. Break it apart: Once set, break the mixture into pieces of varying sizes.

Notes

Let popcorn cool completely before adding chocolate to prevent sogginess. White chocolate is sensitive to heat and moisture; microwave in short bursts and ensure all tools are dry. Add candy corn after chocolate to keep pieces distinct. For best texture, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. If mix loses crunch, reheat in a 300°F oven for 3-4 minutes.
