These crispy air fryer garlic Parmesan chicken wings deliver restaurant-quality crunch without the deep fryer. Ready in 25 minutes with simple ingredients, they’re perfect for game day or a lazy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, separated into drumettes and flats
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese (preferably Parmigiano-Reggiano)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the wings completely dry with paper towels. Let them sit uncovered on a plate for 5 minutes to air-dry any remaining moisture.
  2. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  3. In a large bowl, combine the baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Whisk to distribute evenly.
  4. Add the dried wings to the bowl and toss thoroughly to coat every piece evenly. Let the seasoned wings rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Arrange the wings in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overlapping. Work in batches if needed.
  6. Cook at 400°F for 12 minutes. Do not open the basket during this time.
  7. Flip the wings using tongs and rearrange them. Cook for another 10-12 minutes, until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  8. While the wings cook, make the garlic butter: In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Remove from heat.
  9. Transfer the hot wings to a large bowl. Pour the garlic butter over them and toss gently to coat. Sprinkle with the grated Parmesan and toss again.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

Pat wings very dry for maximum crispiness. Do not skip the baking powder—it’s essential for crispy skin. Work in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding. Let wings rest 1-2 minutes before saucing to maintain crunch. For oven-baked method, cook at 425°F on a wire rack for 40-45 minutes.
