These no-bake energy bites are made with just five simple ingredients and come together in under 10 minutes. Perfect for busy days, they’re a healthy, delicious snack that tastes like dessert but fuels you like real food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240g) creamy natural peanut butter
  • 1 ½ cups (135g) old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ⅓ cup (110g) honey
  • ½ cup (90g) mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons (14g) ground flaxseed

Instructions

  1. Combine the wet ingredients: In a mixing bowl, add 1 cup of peanut butter and ⅓ cup of honey. If the peanut butter is cold or stiff, microwave it for about 15 seconds to soften. Stir together with a spatula until completely smooth and well combined.
  2. Add the dry ingredients: Pour in 1 ½ cups of rolled oats, ½ cup of mini chocolate chips, and 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed. Stir everything together until the oats are evenly coated and the chocolate chips are distributed throughout, about 1 minute of vigorous mixing.
  3. Check the consistency: The mixture should be thick and slightly sticky, but not wet. If too dry and crumbly, add a tablespoon more honey or a splash of milk. If too sticky, add a tablespoon more oats at a time until it firms up. The mixture should press together easily without falling apart.
  4. Chill the mixture (optional but recommended): Refrigerate the bowl for 15-20 minutes to make the mixture easier to handle and help the bites hold their shape better.
  5. Roll into balls: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, portion out the mixture and roll it between your palms into smooth balls about 1 inch in diameter. You should get about 18-20 bites. If the mixture sticks to your hands, lightly dampen your palms with water.
  6. Set and serve: Place the rolled bites on a parchment-lined baking sheet or plate. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let them firm up. Serve cold or at room temperature.

Notes

Use creamy natural peanut butter for best texture. Warm peanut butter in microwave for 15 seconds if stiff. For vegan option, swap honey for maple syrup or agave nectar. For dairy-free, use vegan chocolate chips. If mixture is too dry, add a tablespoon of honey or milk; if too sticky, add more oats. Wet hands with water to prevent sticking when rolling. Store in airtight container in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
