These Easy Graveyard Dirt Cups with Crushed Oreos are a quick, no-bake dessert that combines creamy chocolate pudding, fluffy whipped topping, and crunchy Oreo crumbs, topped with gummy worms for a fun Halloween treat. Ready in just 5 minutes, they’re perfect for parties or a nostalgic weeknight indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (3.9 oz) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 (8 oz) tub frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 (14.3 oz) package Oreo cookies
  • Gummy worms (2-3 per cup)
  • Optional decorations: candy pumpkins, skeleton bones, edible glitter

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Place the entire package of Oreos (filling and all) into a food processor. Pulse until you have fine, dark crumbs resembling potting soil. Alternatively, place cookies in a sturdy zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin. Set aside.
  2. Make the pudding: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and 2 cups of cold milk. Whisk vigorously for about 2 minutes until the mixture thickens and is smooth and glossy. Let it sit for 3-5 minutes to fully set.
  3. Fold in the whipped topping: Add the thawed whipped topping to the pudding. Use a rubber spatula to gently fold it in until fully incorporated and the mixture is light, airy, and mousse-like.
  4. Assemble the cups: In clear plastic cups, start with a generous layer of Oreo crumbs (about 2 tablespoons) and press down lightly. Spoon or pipe the pudding mixture over the crumbs, filling the cup about halfway. Tap the cup gently to settle. Add another layer of crumbs (1-2 tablespoons), then the remaining pudding, leaving about half an inch of space at the top. Finish with a final thick layer of crumbs.
  5. Add the gummy worms: Gently poke 2-3 gummy worms into the top layer of crumbs, letting some dangle over the edge.
  6. Chill (optional but recommended): Refrigerate the cups for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the crumbs to soften slightly and flavors to meld. They can also be eaten immediately for crunchier crumbs.

Notes

Do not use cook-and-serve pudding; it won’t set properly. For best results, crush Oreos fresh to maintain crunch. Use a piping bag for cleaner layers. Make extra crumbs to ensure enough for the top layer. If using homemade whipped cream, it’s less stable, so eat within a day. For dairy-free, use oat milk and dairy-free whipped topping; most Oreos are accidentally vegan. For gluten-free, use gluten-free sandwich cookies and pudding mix.
