These Easy Halloween Dirt Cups are a quick, no-bake dessert made with layers of chocolate pudding, crushed Oreos, and gummy worms. Perfect for parties, they come together in under 20 minutes and are always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (3.9 oz) boxes instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 4 cups cold milk
  • 1 (14.3 oz) package Oreo cookies (about 25 cookies)
  • 1 (5 oz) bag gummy worms
  • Optional: green food coloring
  • Optional: crushed graham crackers
  • Optional: small Halloween-themed decorations

Instructions

  1. Make the pudding: In a large mixing bowl, combine both boxes of instant chocolate pudding mix with 4 cups of cold milk. Whisk vigorously for about 2 minutes, or until the pudding starts to thicken. If using an electric mixer, keep it on low speed. Add a drop or two of green food coloring if desired. Set aside for about 5 minutes to fully set.
  2. Crush the Oreos: Place the Oreos in a food processor and pulse until you get fine crumbs (like dirt). Alternatively, place cookies in a zip-top bag, remove air, and crush with a rolling pin or heavy pan. Do not remove the cream filling. You should have about 2 to 2.5 cups of crumbs.
  3. Layer the cups: Spoon about 2 tablespoons of Oreo crumbs into the bottom of each clear cup. Then carefully spoon or pour the chocolate pudding on top, filling the cup about three-quarters full.
  4. Add the top ‘dirt’ layer: Sprinkle another 1-2 tablespoons of Oreo crumbs over the pudding layer. Do not press down.
  5. Insert the gummy worms: Gently push 2-3 gummy worms into the top layer of crumbs, leaving part of the worm sticking out.
  6. Chill before serving: Refrigerate the cups for at least 30 minutes before serving. For best results, add gummy worms just before serving if making ahead.
  7. Optional garnishes: Add extra decorations like candy pumpkins or plastic spiders right before serving.

Notes

For best texture, use whole milk and regular Oreos. If pudding is too thin, ensure milk is cold and let it set longer. For make-ahead, store components separately and assemble day of serving. Gummy worms should be added just before serving to stay chewy.
