This isn’t just another nacho dip; it’s a showstopper that actually tastes incredible. It’s a guaranteed conversation starter that makes people think you’re a culinary genius.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (16 oz) refried beans
  • 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (for yard lines)
  • Mini pretzel sticks or tortilla chips (for goal posts)
  • 1 large bag (1316 oz) tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease your baking sheet or dish with a little non-stick spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the refried beans, taco seasoning, and 1/2 cup of water. Stir until everything is well combined and smooth.
  3. Spread the bean mixture evenly across the bottom of your prepared baking sheet. Shape it into a rectangle.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the sour cream, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until smooth and creamy. Spread this mixture evenly over the bean layer.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses evenly over the sour cream layer.
  6. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  7. Carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven. Immediately sprinkle the shredded lettuce over the melted cheese. Then, add the diced tomatoes, sliced black olives, sliced jalapeños, and chopped green onions.
  8. Spoon the reserved 1/4 cup of sour cream into a small zip-top bag. Snip off a tiny corner of the bag. Pipe straight lines across the ‘field’ of dip to create the yard lines.
  9. At each end of the rectangular dip, place two mini pretzel sticks or sturdy tortilla chips standing upright to look like goal posts.
  10. Serve immediately with a big bowl of tortilla chips.

Notes

For the straightest yard lines, use a ruler or a butter knife as a guide when piping the sour cream. You can assemble the dip completely (without the fresh toppings and yard lines) a day in advance. Cover it tightly with plastic wrap and store it in the fridge. When you’re ready to serve, just bake it as directed, then add the lettuce, tomatoes, and other fresh toppings.
