These Easy Mummy Hot Dogs with Spooky Mustard Eyes are the perfect blend of fun and delicious, coming together in under 25 minutes. Made with just hot dogs, crescent roll dough, and mustard, they’re a crowd-pleasing Halloween treat that kids and adults love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (Pillsbury recommended)
  • 8 beef or turkey hot dogs (regular size, not jumbo)
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard (for eyes; plus extra for dipping)
  • Optional: black sesame seeds or poppy seeds (for pupils)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Open the crescent roll dough and unroll it. If using perforated style, press seams together to create one solid sheet. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut the dough lengthwise into 8 thin strips, each about 1/2 inch wide.
  3. Take one strip of dough and wrap it around a hot dog in a spiral pattern, starting at one end and working to the other. Leave a small gap near the top (about 1/2 inch) for the face. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and dough strips.
  4. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and hot dogs are heated through.
  5. Remove from oven and let cool on the pan for 2-3 minutes. Transfer to a cooling rack if desired.
  6. Once cool enough to handle but still warm, dip a toothpick into yellow mustard and dot two small eyes onto the exposed hot dog area. If using seeds, place one in the center of each mustard dot while still wet.
  7. Serve immediately, warm, with extra mustard for dipping if desired.

Notes

For best results, use regular-sized hot dogs (not jumbo). Don’t overwork the dough; work quickly and gently. Leave a gap at the top for the face. Watch the oven closely after 10 minutes to avoid burning. Can be assembled up to 4 hours in advance and refrigerated. For freezing, assemble unbaked mummies, freeze on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag; bake from frozen, adding 3-5 minutes. Reheat in oven or air fryer at 350°F for 5-7 minutes.
