These easy mummy hot dogs with crescent dough come together faster than ordering takeout. No chilling, no fancy ingredients, no stress—just hot dogs, canned dough, and a couple of clever tricks that make them look like you tried way harder than you actually did.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 beef hot dogs
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard (or ketchup)
  • Cooking spray or olive oil (optional)
  • Everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean cutting board. If using perforated triangle dough, press the seams together firmly until you have one solid rectangle. Gently smooth out any thick spots.
  3. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough lengthwise into 8-10 strips, each about ¼ to ½ inch wide.
  4. Take one dough strip and start at one end of a hot dog. Wrap it around at a slight angle, overlapping the edges slightly as you go, leaving a small gap near the top for the ‘face.’ Tuck the end of the strip underneath the hot dog to secure it. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and strips.
  5. Space the wrapped hot dogs on the baking sheet at least 1 inch apart.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  7. Let them cool for 2-3 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a cooling rack or serving platter.
  8. Dip a toothpick into the mustard and dot two small eyes onto the exposed hot dog face.

Notes

Cold dough is key—keep it refrigerated until ready to use. Wrap dough snugly but not tight to prevent splitting. For extra-crispy dough, bake 2 more minutes but watch closely. If dough strips break, press ends together and continue. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free crescent dough and verify hot dogs are gluten-free.
