These no-bake pumpkin pudding cups with Oreo dirt are a fun, crowd-pleasing fall dessert. Layers of creamy pumpkin pudding and crunchy chocolate cookie crumbs create a delightful treat that looks like a little pumpkin patch in a cup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (15 oz) pure pumpkin puree
  • 1 box (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup cold whole milk
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 46 gummy worms per cup
  • Optional: 8-10 small candy pumpkins or candy corn
  • Optional: 4-6 mint leaves per cup

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos into fine dirt. Place the entire package of Oreos (cream filling and all) into a food processor. Pulse about 15-20 times until you have a texture that looks like dark, crumbly soil. Transfer to a bowl and stir in the melted butter until everything looks moist and clumpy. Set aside.
  2. Beat the cream cheese. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and fluffy—about 2 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl halfway through.
  3. Make the pumpkin pudding. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the cold milk and instant vanilla pudding mix. Whisk vigorously for about 2 minutes until the mixture thickens. Fold in the pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract until completely combined.
  4. Combine the cream cheese and pudding. Add the cream cheese mixture to the pumpkin pudding mixture. Fold gently with a spatula until no white streaks remain.
  5. Layer the cups. Place your cups on a baking sheet. Start with a 2-tablespoon layer of Oreo dirt in the bottom of each cup. Press it down gently. Next, add about 1/4 cup of the pumpkin pudding mixture. Add another 2 tablespoons of Oreo dirt. Then another layer of pumpkin pudding. Finish with a final generous layer of Oreo dirt on top.
  6. Chill thoroughly. Place the cups in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, but overnight is better.
  7. Add the garnishes. Just before serving, poke a few gummy worms into the top layer of Oreo dirt. Add a couple of candy pumpkins on top. If using mint leaves, tuck them in around the candy pumpkins. Serve immediately.

Notes

Room temperature ingredients matter. Cold cream cheese will leave you with lumpy pudding. Don’t oversoak the Oreo dirt with butter. Layer with intention using a piping bag for clean layers. Make extra Oreo dirt for snacking. Add gummy worms no more than an hour before serving to prevent bleeding. These taste better on day two.
