These creamy, pudding-like overnight oats are packed with fiber and flavor, made with simple ingredients like rolled oats, chia seeds, and frozen berries. A happy accident turned family favorite that’s perfect for busy mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (90g) rolled oats
  • 3 tablespoons (30g) chia seeds
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk (any kind)
  • 1/2 cup (120g) plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup (140g) frozen mixed berries
  • 12 tablespoons (15-30ml) honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare your containers: Grab mason jars or airtight containers. For individual servings, divide ingredients equally; for a big batch, use one large container.
  2. Add dry ingredients: To each jar or main container, add 1/4 cup (22g) rolled oats and 2 teaspoons (about 5g) chia seeds. Stir to combine.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In a small bowl or liquid measuring cup, whisk together milk, Greek yogurt, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  4. Pour wet over dry: Pour the milk mixture over the oats and chia seeds. Stir thoroughly, scraping the bottom and sides, until every oat and seed is submerged.
  5. Add berries: Gently stir in frozen berries (1/4 cup per serving or 1 cup total for a big batch) until evenly distributed.
  6. Seal and refrigerate: Cover containers tightly and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, preferably 8-12 hours (overnight).
  7. Serve: In the morning, stir well and enjoy cold, or microwave for 45-60 seconds for a warm version. Top with extra berries, peanut butter, or granola if desired.

Notes

For best texture, use rolled oats (not instant or steel-cut). Stir thoroughly before refrigerating to prevent chia seed clumps. Oats keep for up to 5 days in the fridge; flavors improve after day one. For dairy-free, use plant-based milk and yogurt. For gluten-free, use certified gluten-free oats.
