Ingredients

Scale
  • 810 all-beef hot dogs
  • 810 hot dog buns (brioche or classic white)
  • Yellow mustard
  • Ketchup
  • Sweet pickle relish
  • Diced onions (red or white)
  • Shredded cheddar cheese (sharp or mild)
  • Coleslaw (store-bought or homemade)
  • Sautéed bell peppers and onions
  • Jalapeño slices (fresh or pickled)
  • Bacon bits (crispy, homemade or store-bought)
  • Chipotle mayo (mayo mixed with chipotle powder or adobo sauce)
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Pickle chips or spears
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Dice onions and bell peppers into small, uniform pieces.
  2. Sauté bell peppers and onions in a little olive oil over medium heat until softened and slightly caramelized, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Shred the cheddar cheese if not pre-shredded.
  4. Prepare coleslaw or have store-bought ready to go.
  5. Mix chipotle mayo by stirring about ½ cup of mayo with 1-2 teaspoons of chipotle powder or adobo sauce, adjusting heat level to taste.
  6. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  7. Place hot dogs on the grill, turning every few minutes for even charring and heating until grill marks appear and hot dogs have a slight snap, about 10-12 minutes.
  8. Split buns if not pre-sliced and lightly butter the inside of each bun.
  9. Place buns cut-side down on the grill or in a skillet until golden and crisp, about 1-2 minutes.
  10. Arrange hot dogs, buns, and toppings in separate dishes or trays for a hot dog bar setup.
  11. Label items if desired and provide plenty of napkins and plates.
  12. Invite guests to build their hot dogs their way and share favorite combinations.

Notes

Toast buns lightly to prevent sogginess. Prepare toppings ahead and keep chilled. Use firm, high-quality hot dogs for best flavor and texture. For gluten-free guests, use gluten-free buns and check toppings for hidden gluten.
