A fun and healthy Halloween appetizer featuring fresh vegetables arranged in a spiderweb pattern around a creamy ranch dip, topped with an olive spider. Perfect for parties and potlucks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups broccoli crowns, cut into small florets
  • 1 cup cauliflower florets
  • 1 cup baby carrots
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into thin strips
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, cut into thin strips
  • 1 large cucumber, sliced into rounds or half-moons
  • 45 celery stalks, cut into 3-inch pieces
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup pitted black olives
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Make the dip: In a small bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, ranch seasoning, chives, garlic powder, and pepper. Stir until smooth. Cover and refrigerate while prepping veggies.
  2. Prep all veggies: Wash and dry thoroughly. Cut broccoli and cauliflower into small florets. Slice bell peppers into thin strips. Cut cucumber into rounds or half-moons. Chop celery into 3-inch sticks. Leave baby carrots whole.
  3. Assemble the spiderweb base: Place a small round bowl of dip in the center of a large round platter. Arrange veggies in concentric circles around the bowl, starting with broccoli as the outermost ring, then cauliflower, carrots, bell peppers, cucumber, and celery.
  4. Create the web pattern on the dip: Spoon about 2 tablespoons of dip into a piping bag or zip-top bag. Snip off a tiny corner. Pipe thin lines from the center of the dip outward to the edge of the bowl, spacing them evenly like spokes. Then pipe curved lines connecting the spokes, working from center outward.
  5. Make the spider: Cut one olive in half lengthwise for the body. Cut the other olive into 8 thin strips for legs. Arrange body halves in the center of the web, place leg strips on either side, curving slightly. Use a dab of dip as glue if needed.
  6. Fill in gaps with cherry tomatoes or extra veggies. Serve immediately or refrigerate until serving.

Notes

Dry veggies thoroughly to prevent soggy dip. Chill dip before piping for better shape. Uniform cuts make the design look cleaner. The olive spider is optional; a plastic spider ring works too. Prep components up to 24 hours in advance, but assemble no more than 2 hours before serving.
